Election, Tomorrow

Plus: Reddit profits and bringing the BOOM!

Happy Monday! Election Day is almost upon us. If you haven’t voted yet, find your polling location - HERE. We hope you get out there tomorrow and use your voice! But first…

📡 ON OUR RADAR

  • Comedian, the duct-taped banana by Maurizio Cattelan, will make an appearance in Sotheby’s November sales. With an estimated price tag of $1 million, the outlandishness of the offering aims to bring FOMO back to the art market and get people talking. Mission accomplished on the latter, at least.

  • They’re Costco guys and the Rizzler - of course, they’re on ‘The Tonight Show’! Vulture detailed the rise of the viral TikTok personalities and how they’re bringing the BOOM! to the rest of the world.

  • Halloween aisles this year stocked up as early as July in the new spooky reality of today’s retail landscape. Once a holiday for homemade costumes, Halloween this year prompted Americans to spend upwards of $11.6 billion.

💡 ON OUR MINDS: Election, Tomorrow

  • In case you have somehow missed it, tomorrow is Election Day in the United States.

  • With less than 24 hours to go, both candidates are making their final cases to the American public. Trump and Harris will square off at competing rallies in Pennsylvania tonight, with the possibility of a certain pop star making a surprise appearance in support of Kamala Harris.

  • While conversations about inflation, the cost of living, and immigration have dominated the campaign, some last-minute curveballs have complicated an already historic race.

  • Republican circles this week are rallying around, naturally, the euthanization of Peanut, the viral squirrel, while Harris got some renewed buzz over the weekend from a promising new Selzer poll in Iowa and a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

  • If vote counts are close in key battleground states, and they’re looking like they will be, the election may not be called until well after tomorrow. We may have a long week ahead of us, so strap in.

🥊 QUICK HITS:

In case you missed these reads:

  • Reddit revealed in its third-quarter earnings report that it is profitable for the first time in its nearly 20-year lifespan.

  • Would you like fries with your piercing? Studs is using food brand activations to drive customer traffic.

  • Blogging platform Medium, like many other online forums, is full of AI slop, with nearly half of the posts likely generated by robots.
